Eggs & Issues - A Closer Look at the State Budget

The Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Worthington invite you to a quarterly speaker series that focuses our collaborative attention to exceptional learning opportunities for the business community.

The Eggs & Issues breakfast series – an extension of our growing Economic Development Committee and our popular Groundhog Day forecast breakfast – provides thoughtful discussion on development affairs in Worthington and its surrounding environs. The quarterly events will feature well-regarded regional or statewide subject matter experts in economic development, community development, urban planning, and related matters.

The series continues on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 7 to 9 a.m. at Holiday Inn Columbus-Worthington in the Worthington Room. A buffet breakfast will be served. Check-in and networking will begin at 7 a.m., and the program will begin at 7:30 a.m.

The third event in our series will center on the state budget. Our speaker for Oct. 29 Eggs & Issues is Timothy S. Keen, director, Ohio Office of Budget and Management.

Timothy S. Keen became director of the Office of Budget and Management (OBM) on Jan. 10, 2011, serving in that position for a second time in his career. As Governor John Kasich's chief financial officer, he leads an office that develops, coordinates and monitors the individual budgets of state agencies, provides the governor and administration with policy analysis, and reviews all financial transactions made with public funds.

From 2007 through 2010, Director Keen was senior policy advisor to Auditor of State Mary Taylor, following his previous service with the Office of Budget and Management as Assistant Director (1999 2006) and then as Director (2006-2007) in the administration of Governor Bob Taft. Earlier he was deputy director of policy development at OBM, including service as president of the State Controlling Board (1992-1993). His career in public service, beginning in 1986 as a budget analyst with the Ohio Legislative Budget Office, also includes senior budget policy positions with both houses of the Ohio General Assembly.
He received an undergraduate degree in communications from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and holds a master's degree in public policy from the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University.
