Small Business Person of the Year Award Luncheon - 2011

Join the Chamber on May 24 for our Small Business Person of the Year Award Luncheon, as we honor this year's award recipient, Anthony Lordo, D.D.S., and salute small businesses everywhere for their contributions to our economy and our community.


The luncheon, held in the ballroom of The Worthington Inn, will begin at 11:30 a.m. and conclude at 1:15 p.m. The honoree will share with luncheon attendees some of the business philosophies and strategies that have led to success as a small business person.

About our 2011 honoree:


Anthony Lordo, D.D.S., has a growing dental practice in Worthington (and also in Mansfield), where he excels in cosmetic, reconstructive, sedation and implant dentistry.  For more than 13 years, Tony also has been a part-time faculty member at The Ohio State College of Dentistry Nisonger Dental Center, treating patients with multiple handicaps and developmental challenges and serving as an instructor in dental care practices for people
with special needs.  







Tony earned his undergraduate degrees and his doctorate in dental surgery at The Ohio State University. While attending OSU, he and his wife, Kimberly, launched a rental and renovation company that specializes in campus housing. They also renovated a home in Clintonville, where they live with their daughter, Lucia.




Tony has invested in Worthington and in the Chamber since he opened his Worthington practice in 2006 after purchasing the practice of Chuck Schindler, D.D.S.   More recently, he purchased the practice of James Pardi, D.D.S., and he will move his dental offices to a larger location at 1000 High St. on June 13.   He has made a conscious effort to support and advocate for other Worthington and
Chamber-member businesses.  




Since joining the Chamber in 2006, Tony has been a sponsor of Chamber fundraising events, an advisor to the Young Professionals of Worthington, a participant in Chamber health fairs, a frequent donor of door prizes for events, and a volunteer at Market Day and A Taste of Worthington.   He was elected to the board of trustees in 2009 and has led the member development and Market Day committees for the past two years.



A proud graduate of Leadership Worthington’s 2008 class, he also serves on the board of that organization and helps to recruit new class members, as well as Chamber members.   He is a past winner of Leadership Worthington’s Distinguished Community Leader Award.




Developing an office culture that is principle-based and personal and professional missions that are centered on integrity and philanthropy, the Lordo dental practice won the Business of Character Award, co-sponsored by the Chamber and Partners for Citizenship and Character, in 2010.



About the award:


Initiated in 1987, the Chamber’s Small Business Person of the Year Award Program is one of the ways our organization demonstrates its support for small businesses and recognizes those who are succeeding, have shown growth and are involved in the betterment of the Worthington community. To be eligible for this award, candidates must be independently owned, have equity position in the company or be a locally owned franchise. They must have operated their business for at least
three years and currently be located in the Chamber’s service area.Candidates must have 50 or fewer employees and have demonstrated community involvement. Those who are nominated must also show examples of successful solutions to business problems, have a reputation for personal integrity and fair business practices, be financially strong and profitable and demonstrate management or product innovation.
