The luncheon\, held in the ballroom of The Worthington Inn\, will begin at 11:30 a.m. and conclude at 1:15 p. m. The honoree will share with luncheon attendees some of the business phi losophies and strategies that have led to success as a small business pers on. The meal cost is $25 per member and $30 per non-member. Reservations m ust be received by May 20. About our 2011 honoree: Anthony Lordo\, D.D.S.\, has a growing dental prac tice in Worthington (and also in Mansfield)\, where he excels in cosmetic\ , reconstructive\, sedation and implant dentistry. For more than 13 years\ , Tony also has been a part-time faculty member at The Ohio State College of Dentistry Nisonger Dental Center\, treating patients with multiple hand icaps and developmental challenges and serving as an instructor in dental care practices for people with special needs. Tony earned his undergraduat e degrees and his doctorate in dental surgery at The Ohio State University . While attending OSU\, he and his wife\, Kimberly\, launched a rental and renovation company that specializes in campus housing. They also renovate d a home in Clintonville\, where they live with their daughter\, Lucia. To ny has invested in Worthington and in the Chamber since he opened his Wort hington practice in 2006 after purchasing the practice of Chuck Schindler\ , D.D.S. More recently\, he purchased the practice of James Pardi\, D.D.S. \, and he will move his dental offices to a larger location at 1000 High S t. on June 13. He has made a conscious effort to support and advocate for other Worthington and Chamber-member businesses. Since joining the Chamber in 2006\, Tony has been a sponsor of Chamber fundraising events\, an advi sor to the Young Professionals of Worthington\, a participant in Chamber h ealth fairs\, a frequent donor of door prizes for events\, and a volunteer at Market Day and A Taste of Worthington. He was elected to the board of trustees in 2009 and has led the member development and Market Day committ ees for the past two years. A proud graduate of Leadership Worthington’s 2008 class\, he also serves on the board of that organization and helps t o recruit new class members\, as well as Chamber members. He is a past win ner of Leadership Worthington’s Distinguished Community Leader Award. De veloping an office culture that is principle-based and personal and profes sional missions that are centered on integrity and philanthropy\, the Lord o dental practice won the Business of Character Award\, co-sponsored by th e Chamber and Partners for Citizenship and Character\, in 2010. About the award: Initiated in 1987\, the Chamber’s Small Business Person of the Ye ar Award Program is one of the ways our organization demonstrates its supp ort for small businesses and recognizes those who are succeeding\, have sh own growth and are involved in the betterment of the Worthington community . To be eligible for this award\, candidates must be independently owned\, have equity position in the company or be a locally owned franchise. They must have operated their business for at least three years and currently be located in the Chamber’s service area.Candidates must have 50 or fewe r employees and have demonstrated community involvement. Those who are nom inated must also show examples of successful solutions to business problem s\, have a reputation for personal integrity and fair business practices\, be financially strong and profitable and demonstrate management or produc t innovation.
