"Conversations & Coffee" Small Group Discussion on Electric Aggregation and Economic Development

Join other Chamber members on Thursday, Nov. 1, from 8  a.m. to 9 a.m., for a Conversations & Coffee discussion exploring the City of Worthington’s proposed electric aggregation program and updates on economic development issues.

Overview of electric aggregation:

On Nov. 6, Worthington voters will decide whether to give the City authority to pool the community's buying power with the goal of lowering household electric bills and increasing renewable (green) energy usage. If approved by voters, the City could negotiate a bulk price on behalf of its residents and small businesses for purchasing electricity.

The City is working with energy advisor Energy Alliances on the process. If approved by voters, Energy Alliances will manage the certification process through the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, seek competitive bids for City Council to consider, and implement the program.

The discussion leader for this session will be Rich Surace, chief operating officer of Energy Alliances, which currently manages aggregation programs for more than 35 cities, townships and villages in the state of Ohio. City Manager Matt Greeson will introduce Rich Surace and will be available to help answer questions.

Economic development updates:

Worthington's economic development manager, David McCorkle, and city planning director, Lee Brown, will lead a discussion on current development projects and new businesses in the Worthington area.
