Ribbon-Cutting, Grand Opening & Reception at Grid Furnishings

Grid Furnishings will celebrate its grand opening at 661-A High St. in downtown Worthington, and the fifth anniversary of the company, with a ribbon-cutting and reception on Sunday, Oct. 18.
Chamber members and the community are invited to attend the event, which will begin with a Chamber ribbon-cutting ceremony from 12:30 to 12:40 p.m. and welcoming remarks from City Council President Bonnie Michael, followed by grand opening activities featuring the creative work of Ohio artists. Ohio native Kirsten Bowen will present a solo art exhibit, HOMECOMING.  Bowen will discuss her work and process and invite Ohio poets, Steven Abbott, Pamela Brown, Colin Dearth and Steven E. Katz M.D., to read selected poems featured in her paintings. Singer/songwriter Sarah Mann will perform her original song “Young Love.”  The lyrics to “Young Love” are part of a 32-foot-wide, four-panel painting titled “Believe in Yourself.”
Other featured paintings on display will include “Loosed Leaves,” based upon a haiku written by award winning poet Amos White, and “I Have Been a Stranger in a Strange Land,” based upon a poem by Rita Dove, 1993 – 1996 poet laureate of the United States. Both White and Dove also are natives of Ohio.
