DESCRIPTION:The Young Professionals of Worthington are hosting a happy hour
  event with featured speaker Lisa King\, President/Founder\, Brownie Point
 s . The event will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday\, October 19 at Zaftig Brewing
  Co. Registration includes a beer\, house wine or cider\, as well as netwo
 rking and the talk. YPoW does not have an age limit and open to all to att
 end events they host. There are no refunds 72 hours prior to the event. ME
 ET OUR SPEAKER: LISA KING I am a strong believer in fate\, but I also beli
 eve that we control our own destiny. After all\, it was fate that brought 
 me to the brownie business in the first place and destiny that brought me 
 back more than five years later. While teaching in Cleveland\, Ohio I bega
 n baking brownies as a hobby. Eventually a hobby was turned into a nationa
 lly recognized brownie company and an elementary school teacher became a C
 EO. Originally created in my family’s Cleveland kitchen while working as
  a schoolteacher\, I baked and filled orders. As business soared and we ou
 tgrew our kitchen\, Brownie Points evolved into a complete baking and manu
 facturing facility. The company was thriving! Unfortunately\, my husband
 ’s job required our family to relocate to Columbus\, Ohio. Originally\, 
 I commuted two hours each way between my new home and my business in Cleve
 land to keep things going. As time went on\, the travel and distance away 
 took its toll and I knew it was time for a change. Rather than see my busi
 ness fail\, I sold out\, knowing in my heart that one day Brownie Points w
 ould return to its rightful owner. That day came sooner than expected. Unf
 ortunately\, I was going through a divorce and becoming a single mom. I kn
 ew I needed to support my family and that was when Brownie Points came bac
 k into my life. I invested my entire savings and with the help of my incre
 dible Sister-in-Law Lisa (My business partner) my family and my friends we
  restarted Brownie Points from Scratch! Eventually we generated enough bus
 iness and once again took the leap of faith and opened our own manufacturi
 ng facility. Fortunately\, dedication and perseverance paid off because Br
 ownie Points are now entering a new era as am I! We are now focused on lar
 ge corporate contracts\, Best Customer Incentive Gifts\, Custom Gift progr
 ams\, Online Sales\, and retail stores! From a 1400 square foot facility i
 n 1991 the company now occupies 3- 6500 square foot production facilities 
 in Columbus\, Ohio. Throughout this adventure I met my husband\, who ironi
 cally owned his own popcorn business. It was love at first sight and over 
 time the two mergers took place! Brownie Points gourmet goodies have recei
 ved national acclaim appearing on Good Morning America\, The Food Network\
 , Rachael Ray\, The Today Show\, Times Square and Fox News and were chosen
  as a Top Pick by Neiman Marcus Savvy Staffers. Our gourmet treats were in
 cluded in all the dressing rooms at the Billboard Music and the Grammy Awa
 rds. Brownie Points have found their way into the hearts and stomachs of b
 rownie connoisseurs across the country and internationally. Brownie Points
  is brownie obsessed and specializes in providing ultimate gourmet treats 
 that have been infused with luxe gourmet ingredients. Our mouth-watering b
 rownies pay homage to the classic chocolate confection while flawlessly br
 idging the gap between rich epicurean desserts and quintessential fudgy br
 ownies. We make the MOST brownie flavors on earth. It’s true! Our browni
 es are made from the finest\, freshest real ingredients. All this said not
 hing worthwhile comes easy and each day brings a new challenge. I not only
  bought back a company\, I gained a new life\, a new perspective\, indepen
 dence\, and taught my children they can do anything they want. We apprecia
