Keynote Speaker on “Regional Resilience”: Dr. Ned Hill\, Professor of Public Affairs\, John Glenn College of Public Affairs\, The Ohio State University A “name to know” in economic development and urban public policy and author of an upcoming book on “regional resilience” will be the keynot e speaker at the Chamber’s annual Groundhog Day Business Forecast Breakf ast. Edward “Ned” Hil l is a professor in The Ohio State University’s John Glenn College of Pu blic Affairs and in OSU’s Ohio Manufacturing Institute\, where he examin es the impact of technological change on innovation\, work and leadership in the manufacturing sector. At the Glenn College\, Ned continues his rese arch on factors that affect regional economic resilience — the competiti ve position of Ohio’s manufacturing sector\, workforce policy and busine ss strategy — as well as state and local economic development strategy\, public finance\, and urban public policy. His book\, Economic Adversity a nd Regional Economic Resilience \, will be published by Cornell University Press later this year. Ned has launched a research program on product inn ovation in small- and mid-sized manufacturing enterprises. The Board of Di rectors of the Ohio Manufacturers Association recognized his work on behal f of Ohio’s manufacturers by presenting him with its Legacy Award in 200 5 and again in 2016. His book\, Ohio’s Competitive Advantage\, was credi ted with starting a five-year statewide conversation that resulted in fund amental business tax reform in the state of Ohio. The Cincinnati Enquirer referred to Hill as the “godfather of tax reform” in the summer of 200 5. He holds a doctoral degree in urban and regional planning and economics and a master’s degree in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and urb an studies from the University of Pennsylvania .
