DESCRIPTION:Music type: Jazz\, guitar and violin Tom Carroll has served on 
 Denison University Music faculty since 1980 as the instructor of guitar an
 d coordinator of Jazz Studies since 2000. An affiliate artist with the Jaz
 z Arts Group of Columbus\, Carroll has performed at the Spoleto Festival i
 n Charleston\, S.C.\, the Mansfield Jazz Festival\, the Jazz-On-The-Green 
 in Parkersburg\, W.Va.\, and the Columbus Jazz and Ribs Fest. He has coord
 inated the Denison Jazz Guitar Festival for a number of years and also is 
 organizer of the Granville Blues Fest. His first recording as leader was 
 “City Lights\,” featuring Hank Marr\, Gary Carney and Jim Rupp. A seco
 nd “live” album was released in 2002. Besides leading his own trio\, C
 arroll has performed with Louis Bellson\, Jack McDuff\, Rusty Bryant\, Han
 k Marr\, Bobby Pierce\, Jimmy Heath\, Ernie Watts\, Frank Foster\, Cal Col
 lins\, Gene Bertoncini and Howard Alden. Tom now can be heard around Colum
 bus playing with Andy Carlson in his rockabilly band Lay-Z-Boy and the Rec
 liners. Andy Carlson is currently on faculty at Denison University where h
 e teaches classical violin and bluegrass while leading the Bluegrass Ensem
 ble and the University Orchestra. With the Georgia State Fiddling Champion
 ship and the Ohio Grand Fiddler Champion titles under his belt\, Andy was 
 also the recipient of the Iowa Performance Fellowship and the Pelzer Compe
 tition Fellowship. As a studio musician and string arranger he has recorde
 d for Warner Bros.\, Atlantic\, Elektra and Polydor. He plays a wide range
  of music\, including traditional old-time Appalachian\, bluegrass\, swing
 \, blues\, “new” grass\, classical and contemporary acoustic. This con
 cert is presented in coordination with the Ohio Fingerstyle Guitar Club.\n
