Event Date: Saturday\ , Sept. 13\, 2008\, rain or shine. Location: Streets of Downtown Worthingt on - primarily along High Street (SR 23)\, from SR 161 south to South Stre et\, and on the Village Green. Hours: Event starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 :30 p.m.\; Setup begins at 7 a.m.\; tear down ends at 6 p.m. Market Day\, Worthington's largest one-day festival\, captures the spirit of earlier da ys when farmers brought their crops to market. Today artisans gather on th e streets of Old Worthington to present a colorful and varied display of q uality hand-crafted goods from jewelry\, pottery and ceramics to beautiful paintings\, decorative clothing and unique wood products. More than 250 e xhibitors are expected to display their wares. Other attractions include t he Worthington Historical Society Flea Market\, a Farmers' Market\, a chil dren's activity area and performing groups. Plenty of food will be availab le throughout the day\, starting at 8 a.m. with a Pancake Breakfast at the Griswold Center. APPLICATION PROCEDURES There are different application p rocedures for first-time vendors and vendors who have participated in the event previously. For those who have participated in previous Market Day e vents\, there is an online application option. Since first-time vendors in Old Worthington Market Day must submit two clear photographs of their pro duct(s) and one photograph of their display booth for review\, online regi stration is not available. See instructions below. GENERAL VENDOR INFORMAT ION Application Deadline: Friday\, Aug. 1 ($25 late filing fee applies aft er this date). Payment: Payment in full must be received with your complet ed application in the form of a check (made payable to Worthington Area Ch amber of Commerce) or by VISA\, MasterCard\, Discover or American Express. Online registration using a credit card is available only to vendors who have participated in Old Worthington Market Day in the past. Eligibility A rts & Crafts Vendors : All items sold must be handmade or handcrafted\; no commercial products will be accepted\, and priority will be given to arti sts and craftpersons who are selling their own work. To ensure the event ’s quality standards are met\, applicants who did not participate in the 2007 event are required to submit two clear photographs of their product( s) and one photograph of their display booth for review. Only photos accom panied with a self-addressed\, stamped envelope will be returned. Communit y Groups : Community organizations are encouraged to sell handmade or hand crafted items\; commercial products will be accepted only if they relate t o the community/school/church group (e.g.\, clothing with the name or logo of a school team or community organization). Community groups that have n ot participated in Market Day in the past must sell a product or food item . New requests for information booths or raffles will not be accepted due to space limitations. Food Vendors : Priority will be given to food vendor s that offer unique food offerings that are reasonably priced and will enh ance the experience of those attending the arts and crafts festival. Dispo sition of Request : A postcard or e-mail message\, indicating whether a re quest to participate in the event has been accepted or rejected\, will be sent within 10 days of the receipt of an application. Booth Assignment : T he assignment of the booth location is based on a number of factors\, incl uding previous booth assignment\, access to electricity\, total space need s\, type of craft or artwork and special needs identified by the vendor. N otification : Vendor information packets\, including booth number(s)\, wil l be mailed on Tuesday\, Sept. 2. Equipment : Participants are responsible for providing all of their booth materials and equipment. Vendor's Licens e : The State of Ohio requires a vendor’s license for reporting sales ta x. Each exhibitor must obtain a vendor’s permit prior to the event. All permits must be available for inspection\, if necessary\, on the day of th e event. In consideration of this agreement\, the exhibitor expressly waives any and all claims\, legal or otherwise\, for personal injury and/or property damage sustained while on any part of the premise occupied by Old Worthington Market Day\, the W orthington Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Worthington\, and repr esentatives held harmless from any and all other actions.
