2007 Award Recipient

For Bill Alsnauer, the 21st recipient of the Chamber’s Small Business Person of the Year Award, the insurance business is a family tradition.

Bill started as an agent with State Farm Insurance in 1980. His father had a distinguished career with State Farm, and his daughter, a recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, is starting her career as a State Farm agent.

Bill’s agency, which provides clients with a full range of insurance products and financial services, has been in the Worthington area for 27 years and is currently located at 2500 W. Dublin-Granville Road.  During that time he has qualified for many different company and industry awards, and his agency has been recognized for outstanding customer service, profitability and adaptability.

Bill has built his agency into one of the top performers in the State Farm organization, ranking in the top 5 percent to 10 percent nationally and earning State Farm’s highest profit recognition. He completed his Chartered Life Underwriting Designation in 2002.

The late 90s brought about substantial change in the insurance and financial services industry, and Bill responded by adding specialists to work with clients and help them manage their insurance needs. Bill’s focus is leading his team, planning meetings with clients and working with other professionals to help them build and protect their businesses.

A long-time Worthington resident, Bill has been actively involved in the community, especially in youth activities. He served as a pack leader and is an assistant scoutmaster with BSA Troop 365. He has also coached softball and baseball teams. Bill was president of the Old Worthington Association, a neighborhood organization, and is involved in church youth programs and choirs. He is a member of the Worthington and Clintonville chambers of commerce and other local business organizations.

Bill’s wife, Karen, is pastor of Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
