Membership Organization
The Chamber is a private
membership organization that is funded by dues paid by
member businesses and activities that help promote our
members. It is not a government agency and does not
receive tax dollars. The effectiveness of the Chamber
depends on the support and involvement of our members. A
staff of two full-time and two part-time employees runs
the day-to-day operations of the organization.
Membership is open to
all businesses that maintain their annual dues
investment. The Chamber has approximately 700 members
from the service, retail and manufacturing sectors of
the community. Most of our members are small businesses
with about three-fourths of the membership from
businesses with nine or fewer employees and 10 percent
with 10 to 15 employees. See Demographics.
Our Leadership Team is
composed of an elected Board of
Trustees, which
represents the members, and
Staff. Sustaining Members are those who
make a special commitment to supporting the Chamber and
the Worthington area business community.
The Chamber’s direct
service area corresponds largely to the area served by
the Worthington School District and the Worthington
Libraries. The organization also serves the Polaris
business district. The Chamber serves businesses within
all of the City of Worthington and parts of Sharon and
Perry townships and the City of Columbus. This area,
approximately 25 square miles, has a total population of
approximately 60,000 people with the City of Worthington
accounting for approximately 14,000 residents. An
estimated 2,300 businesses are located in the Chamber’s
immediate service area. |
