Five new trustees, three new
officers elected at annual meeting
Five new trustees and three new officers were elected at
the Chamber's annual meeting on Feb. 24. They include
the following:
Bill Alsnauer
One of the top performers in the
State Farm insurance organization, Bill Alsnauer
is respected both
professionally
and personally for his skills and achievements. Bill was
honored with the Chamber’s Small Business Person of the
Year Award in 2007.
He ranks in the top 5 percent to 10 percent of State
Farm agents nationally and has earned the company’s
highest profit recognition. Bill’s agency, which
provides clients with a full range of insurance products
and financial services, has been in the Worthington area
for nearly 30 years. During that time his agency has
been recognized for outstanding customer service,
profitability and adaptability. He earned his Chartered
Life Underwriting (CLU) designation in 2002.
The insurance business is a family tradition for Bill.
He became a State Farm agent in 1980, following in the
footsteps of his father, who had a distinguished career
with State Farm. His daughter also has begun a career as
a State Farm agent.
Bill and his wife, Karen, who is pastor of Gethsemane
Lutheran Church, are longtime Worthington residents and
volunteers. Bill has been actively involved in the
community, especially in youth activities. He served as
a Boy Scout pack leader and assistant scoutmaster;
served as president of a civic association; and is
involved in church youth programs and choirs. He is a
member of the Worthington and Clintonville chambers of
commerce and other local business organizations.
Bill’s customer focus will be welcome on the Chamber’s
board of trustees. He was one of the first Chamber
members to take advantage of the new Web site’s
advertising opportunities. He purchased key banner ads
in the “Moving to Worthington” section of the site and
uses the link to the “Relocation 411” page of resources
to brand his agency and help prospective customers who
are moving to the area.
Paul Cynkar
As
he begins his term on the Chamber’s board of
trustees, Paul Cynkar is also beginning a new career
venture as managing director of operations for Battelle
for Kids. The independent, not-for-profit organization
supports educators’ school-improvement efforts through
strategic consulting, professional development,
innovative tools and resources, data management and
technology solutions, research and evaluation services,
and communications counsel and support.
Paul began his new post Dec. 1 following 26 years as an
educator and administrator with Worthington Schools,
most recently as assistant superintendent. In that
position, Paul was responsible for overseeing the
day-to-day operations of the Worthington School
District, including transportation, food service,
technology and facilities. He led the district’s
response to declining enrollment and was instrumental in
helping the staff address new ways to deliver education
to better prepare students for the 21st workforce.
Paul joined the school district in 1983. He served as
principal of Perry Middle School for one year and
Worthingway Middle School for 14 years. He worked at the
district office as an administrator for 10 years.
Nominators cited Paul’s reputation for innovation and
problem-solving and look forward to his experience with
the school district as the Chamber continues
school-business partnership activities, including
assistance with the International Business Academy,
career exploration, the STEM school project and
workforce development initiatives.
Tony Lordo
Anthony
Lordo, D.D.S., has a growing dental practice in
Worthington (and also in Mansfield), where he excels in
cosmetic, reconstructive, sedation and implant
dentistry.

Nisonger Dental Center, treating patients with mental
and physical challenges and serving as an instructor in
dental care practices for people with special needs.
Tony earned his undergraduate degrees and his doctorate
in dental surgery at The Ohio State University. While
attending OSU, he and his wife, Kimberly, launched a
rental and renovation company that specializes in campus
housing. They also renovated a home in Clintonville,
where they now live with their daughter, Lucia.
Tony purchased Dr. Schindler’s dental practice in May
2006 and became a Chamber member later that year. His
office has been a sponsor of Reds, Whites & Desserts for
two years, and he and his staff have attended Business
After Hours, the annual staff appreciation luncheon and
other Chamber events.
Tony enjoys participating in “Special Smiles” at the
Special Olympics, riding all-terrain vehicles, skiing,
and spending time with his family in a 1967 Chevelle
show car.
A proud graduate of Leadership Worthington’s 2008 class,
he would like to see the Chamber extend its partnerships
with non-profit organizations. He will work with the
proposed Young Professionals of Worthington group within
the Chamber and strive to help new businesses benefit
from the Chamber’s support and programming.
