Community-Oriented Committees
Advocacy & Government Relations
The Chamber strives to develop a climate of free
enterprise and entrepreneurship. The committee plans and
provides opportunities for members to come face-to-face
and develop relationships with elected and other public
officials to help influence public policy. It also
informs members and provides opportunities for them to
become involved in issues that have a significant impact
on members and the local business community and then
advises the Chamber’s Board of Trustees in the
development of positions on these broad issues.
To enhance business leadership, the
committee seeks to identify and encourage business
people to serve in leadership roles in the community,
including elected positions and appointed positions on
public boards and commissions.
The committee also works to foster a
pro-business attitude among Worthington area residents
by informing them about the economic importance of the
business community in supporting the quality in the
community and encouraging them to buy products and
services locally. For more information, contact
the Chamber office.
Economic Development
The capability of the City of Worthington to provide
high-quality services and infrastructure is directly
proportional to the commercial and industrial base that
exists within the city.
The committee works with the City of
Worthington’s economic development department to retain
businesses and attract new companies to the community
and advises city officials on redevelopment
opportunities and ways to enhance services for
businesses. The goal is to maintain the economic
viability of the community so there will be sufficient
funding to continue to provide a high quality of life
for residents and businesses. For more information,
contact
the Chamber office.
